From the 28th September 2009, some of the questions in the multiple choice test have been presented as case studies. Don't worry at all about this: the questions themselves are exactly the same as before it's just that they're presented very slightly differently. Your preparation doesn't change in any way, all you need to do is learn the theory test questions as before and practice your hazard perception through this site. The government has produced probably the shortest ever video on youtube about case studies (see below). Our advice is to relax about it: you'll hardly notice at all.
What software/hardware do I need?
Passyourtheory has very straightforward requirements. You will need:
- A PC or Mac* running Internet Explorer 6 or later, Firefox (any version) or Safari 3 or later
- Adobe Flash Player version 9 or later (see below if you have a compatible version)
- We recommend a broadband connection, particularly for Hazard Perception
- Cookies must be enabled in your browser in order for logging-in to work (see below)
- Resolution must be set at 1024 x 768 or better for Hazard Perception
Please note that the vast majority of computers meet these requirements already.
AOL Users: please make sure you do not use the AOL browser to access the site, use Internet Explorer or one of the other browsers instead,
*(The Sign Recognition training does not currently work on a Mac)
All elements of the site (including the CDROM) EXCEPT the Sign Recognition training are fully OSX compatible as they use the Flash Player.
Do I have the right version of Flash?
My card has been declined but my bank account shows the payments. What's happening?
This is what our payment provider, Nochex, tells us:
"Whenever a card transaction is attempted with Nochex we perform some checks with the bank associated with that card - we check the cvv2 number and the address details provided; these are checked with the bank records to make sure they are correct (in order to reduce incidents of card fraud). To carry out these checks we have to pass what is called a ""Pre -auth"" (pre-authorisation) transaction - this allows us to carry out these checks - we then get a reply back from the bank with either a ""pass"" or ""fail"". These pre auth transactions have to carry a value and in our case we use the same value of the payment attempting to be made. If the signal we get back is a ""fail"" then the transaction does not go through but the ""pre-auth"" has still been passed - hence - the pre auth cannot become a real transaction unless we send a signal back to the bank to allow the payment to go through - since we do not want to process transactions that fail the security checks we do not process any that return with the ""fail"" message. We have up to 3 working days to reply to a ""pre-auth"" hence after a couple of days the ""pre-auth"" transaction disappears.
The money was never actually taken from the bank account - it just affects your available balance"
This happens with certain specific debit card types (eg Electron). Unfortunately, bank staff don't seem to be particularly well briefed on this .
"How is PassYourTheory different?"
We believe that we offer an unbeatable combination of:
- experience: we've been providing practice theory tests since June 2005 and over 350,000 people have used our services to help them pass. We're not a "here today, gone tomorrow" operator.
- features: no other site provides our combination of features. We even send you a CDROM if you join as a premier member!
- quality: we are frankly appalled at the poor quality of some of the other theory test websites. We believe that if you pay for our materials, you should expect to be delighted at their quality.
- price: we offer the best value on the web: from 3p per day!
- personal service: we answer every email personally, usually within a few hours
- guarantee: we guarantee that you will pass, or we'll give you a refund
- expertise: we're an elearning company. We know how to develop learning materials that mean you'll take the minimum time to learn what you need to pass easily
"Are the questions on your site the real DSA questions?"
YES! Our tests contain real questions from the DSA: the same questions you'll see on the day! Beware sites that cut corners (and costs) by creating their own questions.
It’s probably your cookie settings. If you’re using Internet Explorer 7, please go to Tools, Internet Options then click the Privacy tab. You will probably see the slider showing either “block all cookies” or “high”. Please change to “medium high” or “medium”, click apply and then try to log in.
Please use Internet Explorer to access the site as we do not support the AOL browser. To do this, sign into AOL in the usual way but, rather than using the AOL browser, double click Internet Explorer on your desktop (or Firefox or Safari) and use that to visit our site.

"Can I book my test through you?"
NO! We're not the DSA: we provide training to enable you to pass the Driving Theory Test (including Hazard Perception) using questions and video clips officially licensed from the Driving Standards Agency.
"Which vehicle types do you cover?"
We have separate question banks for both the car and motorbike tests although we understand that the questions for other vehicles (including HGV, LPGs etc) are very similar. The Hazard Perception clips for both cars and motorbikes are the same and we understand that the same clips are used for all vehicles.
"I've paid but I can't access anything"
Make sure you click Log in, enter your email address as the user name and the password you chose when you registered. If you've forgotten your password, click the password reminder button on the login screen.
Please check that your payment went through properly: you will receive a receipt from Paypal or Nochex and an email from us.
If you still can't access the materials, please email us at support@passyourtheory.co.uk
Sign up as a premier member (£12.49) and you'll receive a CDROM in the post. This CD contains 14 elearning modules, the hazard perception training at high resolution and sign recognition training.
"Who are you and what is passyourtheory?"

"My screen isn't big enough for Hazard Perception"
Because of the video component of Hazard Perception, it requires a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768. The vast majority of PCs support this resolution and you can change your screen resolution by doing the following:
1) Start Control Panel
2) Double click Display
3) Select Settings
4) Change the Screen Resolution to a minimum of 1024 x 768
5) click Apply
We want you to be delighted with your membership of Passyourtheory so, if you encounter problems, please use our helpdesk facility at www.pytsupport.co.uk in the first instance.
If your problem is not solved to your satisfaction, please drop us a line at support@passyourtheory.co.uk outlining your issue. If, in the end, you want a refund then we will refund you. If you've been sent a CDROM we ask you to return it before the refund is made.
And that's it! This is, of course, in addition to your statutory rights.
"I have a problem, who do I contact?"
In the first place, check here in case we've created an FAQ covering the issue. If this doesn't answer your question, please use our new helpdesk facility.
